5 Tips for Finding a Babysitter for Valentine’s Day
Finding a babysitter for Valentine’s Day is second only to New Years Eve in terms of how difficult it might be. So here are 5 tips for finding a babysitter for Valentine’s Day. It might be too late this year, but these tips will serve you well in the years ahead.
Start Searching for a Babysitter Early
The pool of babysitters declines on Valentine’s Day. As you can guess, some babysitters have their own plans. Which means, your chances of getting your regular sitter decreases, and getting someone else becomes becomes quite difficult as you get closer and closer to the date. So, start your search for a babysitter early. You will have a much better chance of finding someone for Valentine’s if you start in January than in early February.
Be Prepared to Pay a Premium Rate
To entice some of the babysitters who are on the fence about going out for Valentine’s themselves, it might be a good idea to offer to pay them a higher rate than you would normally. In London, this can be anywhere from £10-£20 depending on the number of hours, the number and the ages of the children and the area among other things. Talk to your neighbours and other parents, and see what they are paying their babysitter for Valentine’s.
Move Valentine’s Day to Another Day
Consider celebrating Valentine’s Day on a day other than February 14th. You will have a much higher chance of getting your regular babysitter and paying the normal rate.
Share a Babysitter
It might be a good idea to share your babysitter with a neighbour or friend. Just keep in mind though that you should generally have no more than a maximum of three children per babysitter. And no more than two infants or toddlers per babysitter.
Celebrate Valentine’s Day at Home
Dust off those candle sticks, find those matches and do romance the old fashioned way by cooking at home and setting up a nice romantic candle-light dinner for your significant other. In other words, put the kids to bed early and skip the babysitter.
