Little one’s love Easter, and with the egg hunts, cute rabbits and seemingly endless chocolate, why wouldn’t they?

But as well as all that, there are tons of great events for children happening over the Easter school holidays, so make it a break to remember with our round-up of the best Easter activities for kids that the whole family will love.

1) Family activities at London Fire Brigade’s pop up museum

This Easter at the London Fire Brigade Pop-up Museum, children are invited to craft their own mini animation videos, design their own fire-marks and make a fire-brigade themed greeting card to take home.

2) The Velveteen Rabbit

Christian Roe puts on a soft brown blazer, traces his hand over imaginary whiskers and ears, and so becomes the Velveteen Rabbit of Margery Williams’ 1922 novel, a stuffed toy hoping to earn his owner’s love in order to become real.

But that’s it. He doesn’t act rabbit. He just is rabbit – and from that moment on, we accept him as such. There’s no overbite, no nose-wrinkling, no mimed hands-behind-head ears and no sitting on his haunches. Occasionally, he raises his eyebrows in an ever-so-slightly rabbity way, but mostly Roe just stands there, looking out at us and blinking. And we see the Velveteen Rabbit.

3) The Palace Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt

Hunt down the Lindt Gold Easter bunny hidden in Hampton Court Palace and learn about the history of ‘royal chocolate’. Once you’ve uncovered the prize, the Lindt treat is all yours. The price for the ‘egg hunt’ is included in the palace admission fee.

4) Robot Zoo

Meet a robotic rhino, a squid with 18-foot tentacles and a huge house fly with a vacuum cleaner mouth at the Horniman Museum’s Zoo for larger-than-life robot animals made from familiar machines and gadgets. Through interactive games and challenges the robot creation will reveal how real animal anatomy works.

5) The Natural History Museum’s Butterfly House

The Natural History Museum’s butterfly house returns to a specially constructed tropical enclosure on the Museum’s east lawn. Visitors can come face-to-face with tropical butterflies, including the swallowtail, blue morpho, the moon moth and many others originating from Africa, Southeast Asia and North and South America, and take part in games, activities and challenges that teach more about the sensory world of the fluttering creatures.
