About me
Hello, I have a long history of work and interest in childcare and education. I also have the experience of my own two children, who are now grown up. I have lived and worked in London for over 30 years and am originally from rural Scotland. I am patient, calm, caring and confident.
I am currently in full time employment as Deputy Manager of a Nursery run by London Borough of Camden. My employment there began in 1990 and over the 25 years of service I have held different roles as my career progressed. I began as a Nursery Officer, then Third in Charge and have been Deputy Manager for 18 years. Previously I worked for other Local Authorities and in Nanny jobs.
The wide range of experience I have includes;
- Working directly with children in an inclusive environment that values diversity, planning for the individual child based on their interests.
- Monitoring the learning of development of each child in the seven areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and supporting colleagues to put plans into place to address needs.
- Ensuring individual care needs are met, such as dietary requirements and the administration of medication.
- Working closely with the Head of the Nursery in all aspects of managing the Nursery on a daily basis; ensuring the Policies and Procedures of the organisation are applied along with meeting Ofsted requirements.
A significant part of my role is being the SENCo (Special Educational Needs Co- ordinator) in the Nursery. This involves working in partnership with parents, colleagues in the Nursery and professionals from other agencies, such as Speech and Language Therapists, supporting children to work towards their targets.
