Babysitter

About me

I started babysitting my neighbours' kids when I was 12, with my parents just next door if I needed them (this was ok at the time). I was a Girl Scout and took a babysitting class which included First Aid (though that is definitely not in date now.) At 16, I spent two seiarare summers working at a daycare facility for kids aged 6 weeks through elementary school. Then I spent two summers while in uni working with kids aged 2-4. I also took regular babysitting work. Through my theatre company, Aequitas, I run occasional drama workshops for teens and have previously taught classes for younger kids (8-11). I also am an aspiring author who writes novels for kids aged 9-12 and a founding member of the organisation Step Up Teens. I am not looking for full time live in work as I have a day job but I would love the occasional job.

Rachael is involved in a children's non profit I am involving. I have seen her interacting with my younger son, his friends, and my older daughter, a teenager, and her friends. I feel confident Rachael can care for children of all ages, even difficult and/or extremely energetic ones. Everyone likes Rachael. Rachael showed great initiative organizing and teaching drama classes at a local youth centre. Through this class, she engaged children of different backgrounds, the drama class had "funded" places for students from lower income families, and was able to work with each student's individual needs, in this group environment, so that every child would get the most out of the class. Rachael is a kind, caring and responsible person. She also has a lot of empathy in dealing with all types of children. She is able to "entertain" children and capture their imagination, teach them to develop new skills and help them develop existing ones. She also has strong academic skills that will enable her to help them with homework.

I have co-led acting workshops with the Silvia.
