Less than 1 in 10 of babysitters who approach KidSitter for babysitting work are accepted. Babysitters have to pass our 5 step vetting process. Most of our babysitters are childminders, nannies, nurses, teachers or university students.
A DBS check is used to determine whether someone has a history of any criminal behaviour. If they do, it would show up on the DBS certificate. We don't consider anyone who does not have a clean DBS certificate, clear of any criminal record. Learn more about DBS checks.
The proof of identification must be a government issued photo identity card, drivers license or a passport and must not be expired.
We collect bank details along with proof of address from each of our babysitters.
These two references must be references from parents who babysitters have worked for. We call each of the references and reject any applicant if even a single reference is merely average.
It is very important for babysitters to be professional, ready and relaxed, so they can provide the care your child needs. We look for these and other signs during the interview process to make sure we would be comfortable leaving our own children with them.
KidSitter has hundreds of qualified and experienced childcare professionals in Greater London, available to babysit for you any time you need. We have babysitters who have experience with new borns, twins and special needs. In addition, most of our babysitters are bilingual, with English, Spanish, Italian and French being the most common languages within our network. KidSitter babysitters fall into the following categories of child care:
Nannies are fully invested in a child's development and well-being. A nanny will care for children full-time in your home while both parents work. Responsibilities of a nanny includes creating daily schedules, engaging in activities with the child, preparing meals, helping with household work (dishes, laundry, etc.), driving the children to and from activities and assisting with homework. Live-out nannies often look for babysitting work in the evenings and weekends, or in between jobs.
Childminders are Ofsted registered child care providers who will care for your child in their home. Many childminders are parents themselves and also look after their own children. They tend to work long days to accommodate working parents, but they do have some availability to babysit in your home in evenings and weekends.
Nurseries generally employ their staff to mind and monitor children on their premises for 20-30 hours per week. Everyone who works in a nursery has to be trained in childcare and is very well versed in caring for many children at the same time. Since nursery staff aren't always full time, they have availability during the day, a few days a week to babysit in your home.
Teachers are natural at handling children of different ages, backgrounds and temperaments. They often have experience with special needs and can engage in learning activities with children. Teachers have shorter work hours, and therefore are available to provide childcare outside of teaching hours.
People who are often in university, studying to be nurses, medical doctors, surgeons, nutritionists, paediatricians etc., are often available to provide childcare in the evenings or weekends, or on their days off. Their professional training and education prepares them for providing quality care, and they make excellent babysitters.
